Clúster Mav,

The year 2024 has been key for the Advanced Materials Cluster of Catalonia, consolidating its position as a driver of innovation, sustainability and collaboration within the advanced materials sector. With a strong commitment to competitiveness and the transformation of the sector, the Cluster has achieved numerous milestones that reinforce its successful trajectory.

Renewal of the accredited cluster seal: the MAV Cluster has renewed the accredited cluster seal by the Catalonia Clusters Program of ACCIÓ for the period 2024-2026, a milestone that confirms its strategic role within the Catalan innovation ecosystem.

Promoting collaborative innovation: throughout the year, 7 collaborative innovation projects have been promoted with the participation of 40 organizations. This effort has contributed to strengthening synergies between members and developing innovative solutions in advanced materials. In addition, 21 members of the cluster have obtained funding for their projects through regional, national and European calls.

First edition of the MAV Awards: One of the highlights of the year was the celebration of the first edition of the MAV Awards, which recognized innovative, sustainable and digitalized initiatives in the field of advanced materials. This event highlighted the excellence and commitment of the members of the Cluster.

Intense and participatory activity: during 2024, 15 member conferences, 15 working group meetings (8 of which were held at the member companies' facilities) were organized and NanoDAY 2024 was held, which brought together more than a hundred people around sustainable and responsible nanotechnology.

New presidency: Antonio Onteniente, COO of Cooling Photonics, has been appointed as the new president of the MAV Cluster. His experience and strategic vision bring new impetus to the leadership of the association.

Training and talent development: the Cluster has successfully completed the first edition of the printed electronics course, with the delivery of 61 diplomas. This initiative reinforces the technical training and competitiveness of professionals in the sector.

Participation in fairs and strategic alliances: the MAV Cluster has been present at 4 fairs and congresses, highlighting its ability to project opportunities and advances in the sector. It has also participated in MOVEM, the largest alliance in Europe to accelerate the sustainable and connected transition.

Outstanding results in innovation projects: among the most relevant participations, the completion of the AMULET project stands out, which has mobilized €2.4 million to promote innovation in lightweight materials, directly benefiting 5 member companies. It is also worth noting that 4 member projects have received funding from the POLREC call for innovation in polymer recycling.

New services and funding: The Cluster has launched a new service aimed at collecting and solving companies' materials challenges, a strategic tool to strengthen the competitiveness of the sector. It has also received a grant from ACCIÓ to continue promoting initiatives during the 2024-2025 period.

With this intense activity, the MAV Cluster has closed a 2024 full of successes, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, sustainability and the development of the advanced materials sector.
